Tips and tricks on making the best out of your fundraiser.
By: Aly Moore
Have you ever wanted to throw a fundraiser at one of your local restaurants, but were a little afraid of the process and if it would be successful? I sure was when I held my first fundraiser with Chipotle. Sure, there are some things I wish I would have done better or more of, but that is why I'm here to tell you some tricks and tips on making the most of your restaurant fundraiser.
Tip #1 - Set up a fundraising committee
A restaurant fundraiser can be pretty easy, but to make sure it runs as smoothly as possible, set up a fundraising committee. That way, it can run without problems.
Fundraising Committee Tasks:
- Selecting the restaurant and working with them to iron out the details
- Promoting the fundraiser
-Decorating the restaurant
Tip #2 - Choose a partner restaurant
Chain restaurants often have plans already in place to help with running a fundraiser. However, smaller and locally run restaurants shouldn't be discounted when searching for fundraising places. Partnering with nonprofits can bring them new customers, and there are usually fewer organizations approaching them for fundraisers.
Tip #3 - Arrange a meeting with the manager
Having a face-to-face meeting with your contact can seal the deal.
Tip #4 - Promote your restaurant fundraiser
Promote your restaurant fundraiser as far as you can reach. Social media is one of the most popular ways to do this. Creating an event via social media is a great way to see how many potential people will be showing up for your fundraiser. Asking your organization members who have social media to share any and all things related to your fundraiser is important. It is as simple as two clicks, and more and more people will be reached. However, there are other ways to reach your nonsocial media population. Sending an email, word of mouth, and passing out flyers are great avenues to reach even more people.
Tip #5 - Thank your supporters after the event
Make sure to thank your supporters by sending them a thank you letter, or card, or calling them to express your gratitude. If your supporters are happy for you to do so, you can tag them on social media to say thank you.
In the end, promoting is KEY!
Be the voice and spread the news about your restaurant fundraiser in every which way possible.
